Editoras - Beggars Banquet

Beggars Banquet, nome de uma das mais importantes editoras independentes da história foi retirado de um disco dos Rolling Stones.

A Beggars Banquet, nasceu em Inglaterra e começou por ser uma cadeia de lojas propriedade de Martin Mills e Nick Austin. Hoje a Beggars Banquet funciona como um grupo juntando as editoras 4AD, Rough Trade, Matador e XL Recordings. O grupo Baeggars, é o maior e mais influente dos que estão ligados à música na Europa. Este grupo é gerido por Martin Mills, tem como director Paul Redding e como executivo Andy Heath. Os seus escritórios estão no Reino Unido e em Nova Iorque.

Enquanto editora a Beggars Banquet, nasceu em 1977 influenciada pelo movimento punk britânico que vivia muito à base da imagem Do It Yourself.

O primeiro grupo a sair com o selo Beggars Banquet, foram os Lurkers que editaram o single "Shadow/Love Story". Obviamente, que o Lukers tocavam punk.

Três anos mais tarde, ao entrar na década de 80, a editora ganha então reconhecimento ao lançar discos de Tubeway Army e Gary Numan a solo. Numan era a voz dos Tubeway Army.

Artistas como Biffy Clyro, Buffalo Tom, The Charlatans, The Cult, The Go-Betweens, The National e Tindersticks, são alguns dos que ajudaram a editora a crescer cada vez mais.

Em 2008 a editora deixou de assinar mais artistas, tornando-se apenas num catálogo de venda. Os artistas que pertenciam ao selo foram deslocados para a filial 4AD.

BIografia - Felt

Felt, grupo criado por Lawrence, nasceu com o intuito de durar 10 anos. Desde 1979, altura em que editaram o single "Índex", até ao seu final, esta banda inglesa de indie pop/rock, lançou apenas 10 singles e 10 álbuns.

Mesmo depois do seu fim Lawrence quis manter o carisma da banda intacto, e só autorizou a reedição dos seus discos, tendo como contrapartida que os mesmos tinham de manter a capa inalterável (mesmo na versão cd) e não podiam incluir qualquer extra.
No inicio Lawrence teve nos Fet a seu lado o guitarrista Maurice Deebank.
Lawrence fez, depois, parte do grupo Denim e dos Go Kart Mozart.

Em 2005 Lawrence lançou o último álbum dos Go-Kart Mozart "Tearing Up the Album Chart" e propôs lançar um álbum a solo em 2006, o que não chegou a acontecer.
