Biografia – The Birthday Party

Antes de se chamar Birthday Party, o projecto liderado por Nick Cave, editou em 1978, sob o nome The Boys Next Door o disco "Door Door". Em seguida o projecto muda-se para Londres e troca o nome para Birthday Party.

Depois de em 82 editarem o registo"Junkyard" a banda viaja até a Alemanha onde contacta com grupos e artistas de pós-punk e industrial tais como Lidia Lunch e Einstürzende Neubauten.

Praticando um som de linhas pós-punk, a banda esteve desde sempre ligada à editora 4AD.

Em 1983 a banda termina a sua actividade, tendo o seu líder Nick Cave seguido carreira a solo. Harvey juntou-se a Cave integrando a banda de apoio The Bad Seeds, e Howard faz parte da banda Crime & the City Solution.
